The Opportunity
Caliber Design is celebrating 10 years in business! Until now, our focus has been on mechanical design, but we are excited to expand into electrical engineering!
Reporting to our Electrical & Controls Lead based in Auckland, you will have the unique opportunity to help shape and develop our electrical systems and processes from the ground up.
As an Electrical/Controls Engineer at Caliber, you will work on projects typically lasting 3- 6 months, giving you exposure to a wide range of industries and challenges. You will be embedded in our client teams, providing expert advice and engineering support to help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Strong communication, time management, and the ability to adapt quickly to new environments will be key to your success. Alongside your client work, you will stay connected to the Caliber community through regular team activities, monthly catchups, and support from your wider engineering network.
Who Thrives Here?
This role is ideal for electrical/controls engineers with
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics or mechatronics .
- 6+ years of industry experience in electrical design for industrial automation.
- The ability to apply fundamental electrical engineering principles and calculations to validate design choices.
- Proficiency in developing electrical schematics using CAD software like EPLAN or AutoCAD.
- Practical knowledge of industrial control systems (HMI/SCADA experience is advantageous).
- Strong PLC programming skills integrating pneumatics, motion control and robotic systems.
- Confident with on-site commissioning, installation, and fault-finding activities,
- Communicates effectively and enjoy working closely with clients
- Experienced in implementing robust machine-safety systems, assessing risks, selecting hardware and programming and testing safety logic.
Strong proficiency in writing technical documentation for all project phases.
