Ready to take on a unique project? Caliber Design is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead and deliver a completely automated production line within the FMCG Industry. The project is based in Manukau, and you will be employed on a fixed term basis for the duration of the project (around 12 months).
ABOUT US
Caliber Design is a mechanical design and engineering consultancy with a strong background in design and execution. While this project is more focused on equipment installation and project management, you will join a clear, capable, and trusted team.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the project for the FMCG production line installation, from equipment arrival and installation to commissioning and final handover.
- Prepare, monitor, and manage the project budget, ensuring cost control.
- Develop and manage the project timeline, ensuring milestones are met.
- Identify and manage project risks, ensuring project governance and compliance.
- Regularly present and report project progress, budget status, and risks to senior management.
- Coordinate with suppliers, equipment vendors, installation teams, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.
- If required, leverage your machine design experience to assist in minor design optimizations (though this is not a primary focus).
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent qualification) - ideal
- Proven experience managing engineering/installation projects with a strong focus on budget and timeline management.
- Solid understanding of risk management and project governance principles, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to regularly report to senior management.
- Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders (suppliers, installation teams, internal management, etc.).
- Experienced with large sites / production facilities, including associated health & safety and permit issuance requirements.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Background or experience in mechanical design or machine systems design.
- Familiarity with automated equipment, FMCG, or manufacturing equipment.
